Resultful Coding Courses

How do we define a result?

There is only one measure we use for our lessons: How much does your child understand? We don’t always get it right the very first time, but one-on-one setting allows us to quickly pick up any points of concern and address them right away.

In his book Start with Why Simon Sinek recommends everyone to ask himself a question: Why? And the following answer immediately formed in my mind:

When we work with every child as an individual, when we focus 100% on their individual talents and needs and when we throw in the best, most dedicated tutors in the mix, only the sky is the limit.

From the very beginning we lived up to this core belief of ours. We founded Educademy to change the way we teach children. We are strongly against box ticking. Yes - we have a very detailed curriculum for our instructors to know what to teach. Yet No - we do not go over it to check what’s done. We strongly believe a curriculum is like a map, while teaching is a journey through a beautiful landscape. You take a look at the map from time to time, but it’s the beauty of the actual thing that got you there in the first place. It’s exactly the same with teaching. And just like we would not step over a cliff edge just because the map shows a path there, we do not follow the curriculum when we feel the tutee is not ready yet.

There is yet another measure of results we hold strongly dear to our hearts:

How much does your child like coding?

This one goes hand in hand with understanding and progress. You don’t like things you struggle to understand and you are not eager to learn things you don’t like. Therefore we pay a lot of attention to make sure your child likes coding. How do we achieve that?

  • On one hand there is a balance of confidence vs challenge. During every lesson we will pay attention to the signals your child sends. Is he or she bored? We will add something new and challenging. Does he or she sound a little bit uncertain? Time to review to make sure we have a 100% understanding.

  • On the other hand, there is our belief that children have a natural thirst for learning. During every course there is a lesson, where we arrive and hear our student just came with an idea for an app or a game and would like us to help. Do we help? Of course. Following children’s interests is more important than following any general plan. And there is always an enormous scope for learning. The projects our clients come up with often go beyond their current abilities. However they bring exceptional passion which allows them to make leaps and bounds in their understanding.

This all means our courses are both non-linear and sometimes quite unpredictable. However, as our aim is to improve a child's understanding and passion for computer programming, does it matter much? Not in our opinion. As long as your child understands more every week and is more eager to try new things, we are happy. Would you?

If so, please let us know and we will get in touch with you to discuss your and your child’s individual requirements

Our courses are fully customised. We don’t believe in one size fits all. That’s why early on we settled on one-on-one courses. These give us flexibility. Since there is no group, we don’t have to follow the average. With one-on-one we can offer the best path for your child. We will start, where you tell us is the best place to start. From there, we will follow your child’s lead. Should we go back and explain something? We will. Should we skip this and that as your child fully understands it already? We will.

You see - our one-on-one courses focus 100% on your child! Nothing else! But don’t get our word for it. What other parents tell us:

I highly recommend Educademy! They have been really great with teaching my 9 year old Python. She thoroughly enjoys the classes and went on to win a school math competition after sharing one of the Python math games she created with her instructor, Harry.

It's also really helped her with overall logical problem solving skills and demystifying computer programming which she's watched me do but always assumed was really difficult.

I have found the team highly professional, flexible and very responsive.

Did we manage to convince you? If so, please let us know and we will get in touch to design a lesson which one day will compel you to leave us a 5-star review

But what if you don’t like it? While I know from my experience it’s not going to happen, how can you? And of course the answer is: you can’t. So here’s the deal:

  • If you are unhappy after the very first lesson, we will refund you all your money.

  • If at any point later in the course you decide you don’t want to continue, we will refund you for all the lessons you are cancelling.

How can you be sure of it? Actually, this is law and you are entitled to it. Just ask your credit card provider. Not many customers know it and few companies will admit it. However, you already know that we pride ourselves to be different.

So, what’s the deal really? The deal is that we will create a customised course for your child for the price you can get a group course elsewhere (which works out at around £70 per hour when paid in full before the lessons begin). It’s not only getting a customised course and one-on-one tuition. It’s also the dedication of our team and the care we take to make sure you are happy with the course. And on top of that you have full flexibility - no time next week - just let us know as soon as you can.

Where is the catch? To be able to run such a lean business and offer you the course at an exceptional value for money, we had to make a couple of choices. One of them is that we hire top talent from British universities. And that means our instructors are also students themselves. Therefore we ask you for a bit of flexibility here. We will agree on a time suitable for you and our instructor. However not all times are always available and sometimes our instructors need to take a week of, for example, to sit their own exams.

So why shouldn’t you just hire a student directly? This is a tough question, indeed. And the one I cannot really answer for you. However, I can tell you what you get from us on top of “a student”:

  • All our instructors are UK based, which is important when you take into account that:

  • All our instructors passed enhanced DBS check to make sure your child is safe with them

  • We run a very thorough recruitment process to select only the best candidates. Are you an expert in computer science yourself to distinguish genuinely good tutor from someone throwing buzzwords at you? We hire a very small percentage of candidates. Are you ready to sift through 100s of CVs and sit through 20 hours of interviews to find the perfect tutor yourself?

Don’t settle for an average, or ok-ish. Book a free consultation with us and find out how the best tuition can help your child to thrive
